Olga Neuwirth is an Austrian-Jewish composer internationally renowned for the versatility of her musical statement. Neuwirth is one of the most celebrated personalities in the contemporary art world. With her works focus on identity, gender, metamorphoses and social issues, Neuwirth has had a resounding impact on artists in many fields and has been a role model for women composers.
Judisk kultur i Sverige presented Neuwirth’s celebrated music to expressionist, silent film Die Stadt ohne Juden (The City without Jews, Hans Karl Breslauer 1924). Performed live to the film screening by KammarensembleN, conducted by Christian Karlsen, the event was held in January 2020 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Konstakademien), commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
